I am experienced in working with a wide variety of students, many for whom English is not a first language. I am able to offer editing or proofreading services for assignments, dissertations, theses or journal submissions, in addition to presentations or any other academic work. I can also offer editing or proof reading for websites, letters, CV’s, advertisements or any other type of business or non-academic communication. About me
My name is Donna and I’ve spent a total of ten years studying and working in Higher Education. After completing a degree in English (First Class Honours), I undertook a Masters in Social Work (Distinction) and spent four years working for a local authority as a social worker. I then undertook a Masters in Sociological Research (Distinction) at the University of Sheffield and spent several years working as a postgraduate researcher. During this time I worked as a seminar tutor, practice assessor and research assistant within the Faculty of Social Sciences. For the past two years I have been working as an academic mentor, as well as a trainer for Sheffield Mind, a local mental health charity. I am also currently undertaking a diploma in Counselling, and enjoy creative writing in my spare time. Having always had a natural aptitude for English and academic study, I have over the past few years enjoyed editing and proofreading for friends and colleagues. Following recent experience editing academic journal submissions for a University of Sheffield PhD graduate from Hong Kong, I decided to expand this element of my career and set up DCY Language Services. Based in Sheffield and London, I can also provide services electronically wherever you are.

I offer a detailed editing service to enhance style, ensure that your writing flows and is well structured, and to upgrade words, phrases or sentences. I use Track Changes so that you can see and review any proposed alterations. £7-15 per 1000 words (contact for a detailed quote).

Individual feedback on your writing and / or English language tuition. £20 per hour.
Proofreading
A polished and professional finish
High quality proofreading to ensure your work is polished, professional and free from errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation. I use Track Changes so that you can review all proposed corrections. £5-10 per 1000 words (contact for a detailed quote).
